Elementary Science
The overarching goal of the South Windsor Public Schools Science department is for all students to have sufficient knowledge of science and engineering by the time they graduate high school so they can engage in public discussions on science-related issues, be careful consumers of scientific and technical information, and enter the careers of their choice.

Following the state of Connecticut's adoption of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), we have been working to revise our K-12 science curriculum to align with these new standards. NGSS calls for a three-dimensional approach to science instruction, which represents a significant transition from the previous Connecticut Science Frameworks. Effective implementation of these new standards demands a great deal of collaboration and patience as educators work through this transition. South Windsor expects to complete the transition of its science curriculum to the NGSS within the next two years.
