SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT fOR ALL STUDENTS
This summer, we are excited to share our new summer reading expectations. All students in grades 9 through 12 will be participating in a shared reading as part of building school-wide community. Please click here for more information. Bring your summer work to school at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. You will be participating in mixed-grade conversations and project work during your English classes.
Once again this year, many of our South Windsor athletic teams and individual athletes had outstanding seasons, highlighted by our hockey team playing in the semi-finals at Yale in March and our boys volleyball team making a return appearance in the state finals a few weeks ago. In addition, we are proud to have 4 All-American in the winter along with 6 All-State athletes, 27 all-conference and 42 Bobcats earning academic all-conference honors. In the spring, we had 37 All-Conference Athletes, 1 All-State and 71 students with all-academic honors. For the complete list of athletic awards and recognition please click here.

"Mining Our Local Professional Resources" by Dr. Phil Harak
Have you ever wondered about the level of collaboration amongst teachers? What the relationship is like between colleagues teaching in other departments? If yes, you are encouraged to read this short article written by Dr. Phil Harak, titled “Mining Our Local Professional Resources.” In this journal article, Dr. Harak speaks from personal experience about his work with other English teachers, technology coaches and an art teacher at South Windsor High School. He also highlights the impact such work has student learning and the professional culture of the high school.
