PowerSchool is a communication tool that provides secure access to student information through a web-based parent portal. Through PowerSchool's online Parent Portal, parents can access student grades and attendance records, view daily announcements and teacher e-mail addresses, and sign-up for e-mail alerts for grades and attendance.
Parent Portal uses a single sign-on process which means if you have more than one child in South Windsor Public Schools, you will be able to use one log-on to view all student accounts (elementary, middle and high school).
Before you begin, you will need to obtain a Student Access ID and Password from your child's school. (If you have more than one child, you will initially need to obtain a separate ID and password for each child.) To protect the safety of your child's information, this process must be done in person and a valid photo ID is required. Once you obtain an Access ID and password from the school, log on to Parent Portal to "Create Account."
PowerSchool Parent Portal is accessible online or through your mobile device. Mobile apps are available for iPhones and Droid smartphones.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I do if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, contact the school's main office. Due to privacy, they will not be able to see your existing password. However, they will assign a temporary password so you can log-in to your account and create your own new password.
If my child moves from one school to another, do I have to create a new account?
No, your account will remain the same for as long as your child is enrolled at South Windsor Public Schools.
My middle/high school student has a Student Portal Account. Are our accounts the same?
The same information appears in both the Parent and Student Portal accounts. However, the log-in ID and passwords for both accounts are unique.
Do parents of multiple households have to share the same log-on ID and password?
As long as both parents have custody of the child (as reflected in PowerSchool), Parent Portal allows each parent to have his/her own log-on ID and password. Both parents will need to create New User accounts as described in this brochure.
