Phillip R. Smith Good News
On April 13, South Windsor Senior Citizens came to Philip R. Smith School. With book in hand, 18 seniors visited all classrooms grades K-5 to read to the students. The seniors left the books as a gift to each classroom library. Following the visit in the classrooms, the PTO provided a dessert reception. The students truly enjoyed the experience. One of the guest readers was board member, Carol Driscoll!
First grade student from Nichole Long’s class, Nicholas LaRosa, wrote a story entitled “On the Beach” that was selected for publication in the Connecticut Student Writers Magazine. This magazine, established in 1988, recognizes excellence in student writing. Nick will be recognized at the University of Connecticut on May 15.
