		<description><![CDATA[<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="color: #000000;" color="#000000">The Timothy Edwards Middle School Mentoring Program hosted the Eleventh Annual Family Breakfast on&nbsp; April 12.&nbsp; The students who participate in the school-based program enjoyed the opportunity to introduce family members to their mentors.</span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="color: #000000;" color="#000000">Keith Deltano, a winner of the teaching excellence award and former public school teacher, was the guest speaker at three Bullying assemblies at TEMS.&nbsp; During separate assemblies, for grades 6, 7 and 8, Keith defined bullying, spoke of the dangers of it, and showed bystanders how to intervene.&nbsp; During the following several days, all students met in small groups with a teacher facilitator and discussed what they learned from the presentation and brainstormed ways to reduce bullying at TEMS.</span></p>]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="color: #000000;" color="#000000">Students at Eli Terry Elementary School will be keeping track of cyclist Teddy Herrera&rsquo;s mileage as he bikes across America to bring awareness to living a healthy, active lifestyle. Students will also be keeping track of how many miles Mrs. Sevick and several of their teachers ride in an effort to ride across America as well. In addition, students will Walk Across America and log their walking miles on a map posted outside the gymnasium. </span></p>]]></description>

		<title><![CDATA[Phillip R. Smith Good News]]></title>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>On April 13, South Windsor Senior Citizens came to Philip R. Smith School.&nbsp; With book in hand, 18 seniors visited all classrooms grades K-5 to read to the students.&nbsp; The seniors left the books as a gift to each classroom library.&nbsp; Following the visit in the classrooms, the PTO provided a dessert reception.&nbsp; The students truly enjoyed the experience.&nbsp; One of the guest readers was board member, Carol Driscoll!</p><p>First grade student from Nichole Long&rsquo;s class, Nicholas LaRosa, wrote a story entitled &ldquo;On the Beach&rdquo; that was selected for publication in the Connecticut Student Writers Magazine. This magazine, established in 1988, recognizes excellence in student writing. Nick will be recognized at the University of Connecticut on May 15.</p>]]></description>
