Keith Deltano, a winner of the teaching excellence award and former public school teacher, was the guest speaker at three Bullying assemblies at TEMS.  During separate assemblies, for grades 6, 7 and 8, Keith defined bullying, spoke of the dangers of it, and showed bystanders how to intervene.  During the following several days, all students met in small groups with a teacher facilitator and discussed what they learned from the presentation and brainstormed ways to reduce bullying at TEMS.

First grade student from Nichole Long’s class, Nicholas LaRosa, wrote a story entitled “On the Beach” that was selected for publication in the Connecticut Student Writers Magazine. This magazine, established in 1988, recognizes excellence in student writing. Nick will be recognized at the University of Connecticut on May 15.
