The Social Studies program will prepare all students to engage and participate in an ever-changing global society. This standards-based and developmental curriculum will challenge all students to develop disciplinary literacy skills, as well as critical thinking skills. Ultimately, all students will work towards becoming engaged, resilient, socially conscious, and empowered leaders and citizens.
The curriculum is designed to allow for a wide variety of learning experiences appropriate to students at each grade level. All students are provided opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the areas of history, geography, civics, economics, and behavioral sciences, through inquiry-based instruction. The major goals of the Social Studies program and curriculum are as outlined in the CT Social Studies Framework and C3.
